    Position Title: Assistant Field Technician

    Department Athletics: Administrative Position Summary Performs field and turf maintenance, equipment operations, and other tasks related to the preparation and maintenance of the athletic fields. This individual will communicate and handle concerns with the overall upkeep and maintenance of sports fields Athletic Field Manager.

    Education/Experience

    Bachelor’s Degree plus one year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Valid driver license and a good driving record; must be insurable.

    Knowledge/Skills/Ability Knowledge ground maintenance.

    Ability to operate all field maintenance equipment such as: mowers, trimmers, tractors, field groomers, sprayers, aerators, sweepers, etc.

    General knowledge and usage of hand and power tools associated with the grounds maintenance field.

    Knowledge of small equipment repair. Problem solving skills for repairs of athletic equipment.

    Ability to practice effective verbal communication skills with faculty, staff, and students.

    Ability to read, understand and abide by all safety policies and procedures.

    Knowledge in the general care and maintenance of university facilities.

    Ability to work evenings and weekends as scheduled.

    Ability to travel between campuses. 

    Physical Requirements Heavy Work:

    Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Talking, hearing, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, standing, walking, lifting, reaching, pushing, pulling, and grasping. Visual acuity to perform an activity such as using measurement devices; and/or visual inspections of small parts or devices. Subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside. Subject to hazards, noise, extreme weather.

    Essential Functions Maintain all athletic fields to include: cutting grass, sweep fields, fertilization, seeding, sod replacement, irrigation, spraying, etc. Perform specialized work on baseball, softball, and soccer fields. Maintains fields in a high quality manner. Prepare athletic fields for play including striping, dragging and leveling fields, lay sod, repair worn out turf, spread seed, apply fertilizer, top dress, properly level and maintain pitcher mounds and batter boxes. Prepares fields and stadiums for intercollegiate and sports activities. Assist with related special event preparation, operation and clean-up as required. Maintain and conduct safety inspections of Athletics facilities keeps documentation of all inspections. Clean field maintenance equipment such as lawnmowers, sprayers, etc. Report all damage to equipment and fields promptly to Athletic Field Manager.

    Assist in preparing and delivering needed materials and equipment to job site; perform preventative maintenance on equipment as assigned; inspect equipment before and after use for operation and cleanliness; monitor calibration of equipment. Maintain inventory of athletic field maintenance items and equipment Maintain cleanliness of fields to include the removal of foreign items and materials. Maintain and program irrigation systems. Schedule off-season work on athletic fields to make the playing seasons more successful. Operate and maintain the appearance of hand tools, power equipment, trucks, tractors, heavy equipment, landscaping equipment, snow removal equipment and other equipment pertaining to this position. Perform general maintenance duties as assigned when not performing athletic field responsibilities.

    American Lawn and Tree Specialists, Inc. is currently growing and we are currently looking for qualified Lawn Care Specialists for our Baltimore County and Sykesville locations.
     
    We are a lawn care and tree/shrub care service company providing our services to both residential and commercial customers. We perform lawn care and landscape programs for our customers servicing all of central Maryland. We have an A+ Rating with various websites.

    We are looking for full-time career minded experienced lawn care specialists with a strong knowledge for tree/shrub care.
     
    Job Requirements require the successful candidates must

    •be at least 21 years of age
    •possess at least a high school diploma
    •have at least 1 year of experience in lawn care (ie. fertilization, weed control, etc.)
    •be able to work Monday-Friday (6:30 am-5:00 pm) and sometimes Weekends
    •be able to perform physical activities, (job includes some strenuous activity)
    •have reliable transportation,
    •possess a valid driver's license and good driving record
    •be able to pass drug screen, background check and DOT physical
    •have good communication and writing skills
    •be able to safely drive company vehicles
    •report to work consistently on a daily basis when scheduled to work
    •be able to work independently
    •have the ability to communicate with customers, verbally and in writing, about our service and their properties and address different concerns customers have with varying conditions.
    •be efficient in completing daily tasks.
    •able to mix and apply lawn & tree/shrub care products, read material labels and fill charts
    •be able to run leads for prospective customers and follow up
    •have a strong working knowledge of computers and tablets; how to use and simple data entry

    Preferred Applicants will

    •Have Maryland Department of Ag. Applicators License and Maryland Fertilizer Applicator License ( Cat. 3C, 3A, etc. )
    •Possess  a strong tree/shrub care knowledge

     
    The successful candidate will be paid a weekly salary and commissions based on Experience and Knowledge.
