Turfgrass Field Day

The University of Maryland’s Department of Plant Science and Landscape Architecture would like to welcome you to their Summer and Fall turf research field days. Each respective season’s field day is held on a biannual basis. Summer Field Days are held on odd numbered years and the Fall Field Days are on the even numbered years.

About The Paint Branch Turf Research Facility

The development of the Paint Branch Turfgrass Research Facility began during the summer of 1998. The buildings were constructed from the fall of 1998 through the summer of 1999, with the facility being dedicated on July 12, 2000.

In 2004, the Plant Preparation Building was added to the facility. The buildings of the facility occupy three acres at the northern edge of the University of Maryland campus at College Park. #5 acres of land for field research are utilized through an agreement with the US Department of Agriculture. Current research includes integrated pest management, species and cultivar evaluations, fertility, soil modification, disease management and programs for reduced management inputs.
